A secret in knowing how to clean marble countertops. This will remove dirt but won t heal any etching or stains. Baking soda as a homemade marble cleaner marble is a soft stone made of calcium carbonate. Use a damp cloth to wipe away the mixture repeating the process if the stain is still there.

A poultice is a thick paste that can draw the stain out of your marble. Most marble stains can be removed by using a homemade solution called a poultice. Mild soap and hot water will do just fine. Pour a small amount of the cleaning solution on a clean soft cloth and gently scrub the stained area. This section will highlight how each of the stains mentioned above can be removed. To clean stained marble mix baking soda and water until it s a thick paste.

Try cleaning the area with a soft liquid cleanser mixed with several drops of ammonia or acetone first. Dry the surface around the water stain then rub in a circular pattern over the stain until the stain buffs out of the marble. The abrasive method involves either lightly sanding the surface with progressively finer wet sandpaper or rubbing it with automotive rubbing compound paste. You need to take care not to scratch it or expose it to acid such as vinegar or strong alkaline agents like ammonia and detergents.

It is easily stained dulled and scratched. Don t use abrasive cleaner or pads either because marble can be scratched. For regular marble maintenance wipe up spills with a warm damp cloth and dry it with a cloth. I have seen two approaches mentioned on line to remove stains from cultured marble.

If you spilled anything oil based like a vinaigrette. For most organic food stains the marble institute recommends cleaning with a solution of 12 hydrogen peroxide and a few drops of ammonia. In most cases this should be sufficient to remove the water stains however if this does not work then we recommended trying a marble cleaner specifically designed to remove hard water stains and soap scum.
