The lock mechanism on the passenger side of my golf mk5 showed signs of becoming dead as it gave a few rattles extra after i used the remote and the other locks opened closed. The door lock working in only one direction. If the central locking can be activated from the lock manually there are no communication problems between it and the central convienience module. The locks went a bit mental on my gti once. Even better you can get one under warranty from us at a discount from 30 80. The lights always flash and the locks make a noise so i know the fob battery is ok and the signal is recieved ok. I managed to sort mine out.

You can t do this without opening the door. Im having an on and off issue with my 06 golf tdi. I wander out to the car and hit the unlock button on the fob as usual. Okay it was a 3 dr but i remember reading at the time that the locks can get a bit confused and there was a reset procedure.

You have to take the door skin off. This being the case the door lock module is at fault. Taking the door card won t help you just have a metal wall with a few small holes for wiring. Matto s done a walkthrough on this.
